چکیده
Ameloblastomas are locally aggressive jaw tumors with a high propensity for recurrence that are believed to arise from remnants of odontogenic epithelium, lining of odontogenic cysts and basal layer of overlying oral mucosa. They can occur in either the maxilla or mandible at nearly any age but most frequently are discovered as a painless expansion in the mandible of patients in their 20s-40s. Histopathologically, the follicular and plexiform patterns are the most common. When extensive squamous metaplasia, often associated with keratin formation occurs in central portions of the epithelial islands of follicular ameloblastoma, the term acanthomatous is sometimes applied. Here we present a case of acanthomatous ameloblastoma in a 20 year old patient. Key words:Ameloblastoma, Aacanthomatous, Mandibular Tumors. Squamous odontogenic tumor: A case report
Introduction: squamous odontogenic tumor is a rare benign locally infiltrative odontogenic tumor of epithelial origin and only a few cases, less than 50, have been reported in literature. the challenge is in diagnosing the tumor is due to its close resemblance to acanthomatous ameloblastoma and well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. case report: Herein we report, not previously reported, ...
متن کاملAcanthomatous Ameloblastoma of Mandible
Ameloblastomas are an enigmatic group of oral tumors. The name implies a resemblance to cells of the enamel-forming organ. The general agreement that ameloblastomas are odontogenic in origin occurs largely on the basis of the histologic similarities of the tumor and the developing enamel organ. Ameloblastomas show wide morphological spectra and may pose diagnostic difficulties. Of the many type...
متن کاملThe use of rim excision as a treatment for canine acanthomatous ameloblastoma.
This study reviews rim excision as a treatment for canine acanthomatous ameloblastomas (CAA) in dogs with <3 mm of bone involvement. Removal of a canine tooth was involved in 47% of the cases; 33% cases involved the caudal dentition. Follow-up ranged from 3 months to 5 years. No evidence of recurrence was seen. Client satisfaction with cosmesis and the animal's ability to masticate was judged t...
متن کاملAmeloblastoma during pregnancy: a case report
BACKGROUND Ameloblastomas are rarely found in pregnant women, with only two cases reported in the scientific literature. We report the first case of ameloblastoma in a pregnant woman in Brazil. CASE PRESENTATION A 27-year-old white woman, 12-weeks pregnant, presented with a large mass in her right posterior mandible. Panoramic radiography revealed a lesion involving her mandibular right first...
متن کاملNuclear morphometry in canine acanthomatous ameloblastomas and squamous cell carcinomas.
The aim of this study was to evaluate whether morphometrical analysis can be of diagnostic value for canine acanthomatous ameloblastoma. We calculated, by means of an automated image analyser, some morphometric nuclear parameters, in particular: mean nuclear area (MNA), mean nuclear perimeter (MNP), maximum and minimum diameters (MDx and MDm) coefficient of variation of the nuclear area (NACV),...
